Found Little Happiness Under Quarantine
Pandemic
COVID-19 began to spread around last spring. The speed of the infection spread was just like The Walking Dead world. And in no time, our lives changed completely. The strange life of wearing a mask has started all over the world. Wherever we go, we hide our faces, making it difficult to recognize the faces and facial expressions of the original person. Even now, it feels discomfort to wear white clothes on my face. In the life of wearing a mask, I sometimes forget what the person originally looked like.
The distance to people has also been restricted. This pandemic has created a new lifestyle like remote work and online, making the home a closed space. At the same time, there are quite a few people who lost important events, I am one of them. Weddings, graduation ceremonies, and many other milestone events in life have been forced to be cancel. After this situation, I could find happiness even with small things.
Distance between people
For me, the pandemic that happened at this time suffered a severe blow in my life. The graduation ceremony of the vocational school was also canceled and I transferred to the university, and the university classes started online. Taking classes at home, I didn’t feel like I was in college. In addition, it was difficult to make friends online, and I felt lonely during stay home and studying at home. At that time, my family and local friends supported my heart. We didn’t have the opportunity to meet with my grandparents to prevent infection, but we made regular video chats to share our lives.
The other day, my grandparents finished taking the vaccine twice and met again for the first time in two years. Needless to say, the reunion after a long time was a very special moment for me.
I also met my local friends well for taking my mind off my work during my stay home. It was my best relaxation to have a casual conversation such as job hunting or college.
How to spend during this time
I often had watched Netflix while it was difficult to go out after the state of emergency was announced. After the declaration was lifted, I often went to Makuhari beach to relieve stress. There are various people who enjoy reading books and get tanned or people who enjoy cycling. As I spend more time at home, I tend to narrow the world myself, but by going to the sea and seeing the horizon, I was able to realize the world is huge again. The contact with nature makes me happy after continuing to take a digital shower with remote work.
The merit of Makuhari beach is that we were able to keep a moderate distance from people and spend time without the mask. Taking off the mask and smelling the scent of the sea breeze made me feel the most natural, and the sound of the ripples got rest me. The disadvantage is that the beach is a little dirty. I would like to visit the beautiful sea in the south of Chiba someday on a holiday.
Also, it is difficult to eat out, I’ve been often enjoying alcohol at home. I talked with my family over drinks and sometimes invited friends, and enjoyed the moment.
It goes without saying that the world is big affected by COVID-19. This pandemic brought restrictions to all things in our lives. At the same time, it is also a fact that it gave me a good opportunity to feel the importance of people who are usually around me and the little happiness in my daily life. The days wearing masks will be over soon. It may be a good idea to create a to-do list for after things get back to normal, and find ways to enjoy it in your current life.
